Liverpool City Region Data Centres have today begun work on a new Edge Data centre, located in Bootle, Sefton, Merseyside.

Strategically located within South Sefton, this Edge Data Centre, close to Hornby Boulevard, is a central gateway to the local digital businesses, such as those in retail, shipping, education, gaming, sensors and tech businesses.

Scheduled to open in early 2025, this Bootle Colocation facility is ideal for edge nodes and low latency, interactive retail, immersive and real-time applications that require data to be closer to the end user.

Available space for customers include Single U, Multi U, Quarter Rack, Half Rack and 48U Full Rack options including it’s new Slim DC Range for super-low power density requirements (ideal for for small servers, single board computers and similar appliances).

Redistribution of Heat

In addition to the above, LCRDC will be installing its revolutionary new heat Recovery and Reuse system (HRR).  The HRR system collects the heat generated within its data centre and pipes it into neighbouring properties which includes peoples homes, businesses and local public facilities, ultimately enabling such buildings to lower their carbon footprint while allowing LCRDC to also lower its carbon footprint and cooling costs.

Previously, offering Data Centre space had been a service that has enhanced customers digital connectivity by allowing them to move their IT hardware outside of their office and into a Data Centre within the Liverpool City Region, while still being connected at LAN speeds and low latency.

Over the last 2 years, the demand for Data Centre space has risen, especially with the high costs of the cloud, more and more businesses are now looking at what they can do to keep their data local to their operations, quite often, just a few streets away from their premises.

Baltic Broadband’s LCRDC is growing it’s data centres substantially this coming year and has plans to offer multiple small scale Data Centres that will provide Edge & Micro Colocation across Liverpool, Sefton, Knowsley, St Helen’s, Halton & the Wirral.
